Emergency Paediatric First Aid

This course is designed for those with a responsibility for the care of children and babies. Providing knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents. Through practical exercises participants will gain the knowledge and competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for individuals who work with young children, such as childcare providers, teachers, and club instructors, as well as those pursuing an early years educator qualification. This includes those working in:

  • day nurseries

  • private nursery schools

  • pre-schools

  • before and after school clubs for children in the early years age group

  • childminders

  • carers of children at home

Duration

This is a 1 day course.

Topics covered:

  • Role of the Paediatric First Aider

  • Seizure

  • Primary survey

  • Choking

  • Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)

  • Minor injuries

  • Wounds, bleeding and shock

  • Recovery position

Certification

This is a Level 3 First Aid course, designed for those who have an interest in child and baby Basic Life Support governed by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or OFSTED.

Qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is however recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.
